In 2006 the Gamecocks,
  • shutout a team for the first time since shutting out New Mexico St. in 2000
  • shutout a SEC team for the first time since shutting out Vanderbilt in 1996
  • scored 52 points or more in a game for the first time since beating Vanderbilt 52-14 in 1995.
  • completed their third consecutive winning season for the first time since (1988-1990)
  • scored a combined 346 points or higher on offense for the first time since 1995
  • scored the 5th highest combines point total (346) in school history
  • won 8 games or more in a season for the 9th time in school history
  • appeared in a bowl game for the first time since the 2002 Outback Bowl (played at the end of the 2001 season)
  • won a bowl game for the first time since the 2002 Outback Bowl (played at the end of the 2001 season)
  • won a bowl game for the 4th time in school history
  • beat Clemson for the first time since 2001
  • scored 31 points or more in the South Carolina-Clemson game for the first time since scoring 34 points in 1994
  • won their last three games for the first time since 1973
  • completed a school record 6 straight conference road wins
  • had a head coach log 15 wins after completing his first two years at Carolina for only the second time in school history (Joe Morrison also did it)
  • had a kicker (Ryan Succop) score a combined 85 points, only the third highest season total in school history
  • had a linbacker (Jasper Brinkley) make 85 or more unassisted tackles for the 2nd time in school history
  • racked up the highest single season school record for total offense (5,135 yards)
  • racked up the highest single season school record for first downs (270 first downs)
  • had a quaterback complete 66.8 percent or more of their passes for the 2nd time in school history
  • had a running back (Cory Boyd) rush for 823 yards or more for the first time since Derek Watson rushed for 1,066 yards in 2000
  • had a receiver (Sidney Rice) log his 23rd career TD pass, the most in school history
  • had a receiver (Sidney Rice) break the 1,000 yards receiving mark on the season for the third time in school history
